Students are expected to list repertoire appropriate for their level, newly developed for that semester. For juries with longer amounts of repertoire, students will list their full repertoire on the jury sheet, and faculty will choose what will be played at the beginning of the jury. Students who prepare less than the required amount of music will see that reflected in their jury grade, and possibly the opportunity for level change. This is to ensure progress through repertoire at a reasonable rate, in addition to quality preparation of the materials presented.

   •   100 Level: 5 minutes of new music BM / 3 minutes BA
   •   200 Level: 7 minutes of new music BM / 5 minutes BA
   •   300 Level: 10 minutes of new music BM / 8 minutes BA
   •   400 Level: 15 minutes of new music
   •   500 Level: 20 minutes of new music

All juries will also include sightreading, selected by the faculty.

All students seeking recital approval will come to their jury the semester before the anticipated recital with a typed program for the faculty to review, including time estimates for each piece. Approval will be granted if a reasonable amount of the repertoire is already prepared to some extent, and any works not prepared seem achievable in the time remaining based on the past demonstrated learning rate of the student.

If you have performed a degree recital this semester, you may not be required to present a jury.
